Diethylene glycol is a colorless viscous liquid that is miscible with water, alcohols, and acetone. It can participate in reactions such as esterification and etherification and exhibits hygroscopic properties.  

Applications:It is used as a solvent, antifreeze agent, plasticizer, and in the synthesis of unsaturated polyester resins, polyurethanes, and other materials.
