Fatty Alcohol Polyoxyethylene Ether (AEO) is typically a colorless to pale yellow viscous liquid or paste-like solid at room temperature (its appearance gradually changes from liquid to waxy solid with an increasing degree of ethoxylation). It is readily soluble in water and various organic solvents. Its molecule consists of a hydrophobic fatty alcohol chain and a hydrophilic polyoxyethylene chain, classifying it as a non-ionic surfactant. It exhibits stable chemical properties, resistance to acids, alkalis, and hard water, and allows flexible control of the Hydrophile-Lipophile Balance (HLB) value by adjusting the degree of ethoxylation. Based on its excellent emulsifying, dispersing, wetting, and solubilizing capabilities, the primary application of AEO is as a fundamental surfactant. It is widely used in detergents (e.g., laundry liquid, dishwashing liquid), personal care products (e.g., shampoo, body wash), textile dyeing and printing auxiliaries, pesticide emulsifiers, metal cleaners, and emulsion polymerization, among other fields.
