Sodium Gluconate (SG) is a white or pale yellow crystalline powder or granular substance at room temperature, odorless and highly soluble in water. As a polyhydroxy carboxylate, it exhibits mild and stable chemical properties, along with excellent chelating ability—forming stable complexes with multivalent metal ions such as calcium, magnesium, and iron—as well as certain corrosion inhibition and dispersing effects. Based on these characteristics, its primary applications include: serving as an efficient water treatment agent for corrosion and scale inhibition in industrial circulating water; acting as a set retarder and water reducer in concrete admixtures to improve construction performance; functioning as a food additive (acidity regulator, chelating agent) in beverages and meat products; and additionally being used as an auxiliary agent in industries such as electroplating, metal cleaning, and textile printing and dyeing.
