Styrene is a colorless to pale yellow transparent oily liquid. It is flammable, highly volatile, sparingly soluble in water, and prone to polymerization reactions. It is used in the synthesis of polystyrene, ABS engineering plastics, synthetic rubber, and ion exchange resins.
