n-Butyl Acrylate (stabilized) is a colorless, transparent liquid at room temperature with a pungent odor. It is insoluble in water but miscible with most organic solvents. To prevent spontaneous polymerization during storage or transportation, it is typically stabilized by the addition of trace amounts of a polymerization inhibitor (such as hydroquinone). As an acrylate monomer containing an acryloyl double bond, its core chemical property is its ability to undergo free-radical polymerization under the influence of light, heat, or initiators to form high-molecular-weight polymers. Based on its ability to impart good flexibility and weather resistance to polymers after polymerization, its primary application is as an important soft monomer. It is copolymerized with other acrylate monomers (such as methyl methacrylate) for the production of acrylic resins, coatings, adhesives, textile auxiliaries, leather treatment agents, and also serves as an intermediate in organic synthesis.
