Ethyl acrylate is a colorless liquid. It is highly polymerizable, with a reactive carbon-carbon double bond and a hydrolyzable ester group. It is slightly soluble in water but readily soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol. It is used in the synthesis of resins, coatings, adhesives, as a leather anti-cracking agent, and as a food flavoring agent.
