Carbon Black (CB) is an extremely fine black powder at room temperature, characterized by a very high specific surface area and adsorption capacity. It is insoluble in water and any solvents. Its main component is carbon, and it exhibits stable chemical properties, high-temperature resistance, and strong chemical inertness, although it can combust in the presence of oxygen at elevated temperatures. Based on its exceptional tinting strength, hiding power, reinforcing properties, and conductivity, its primary applications are as a critical black pigment, reinforcing filler, and conductive agent. It is widely used in the rubber industry (e.g., in tires for reinforcement and wear resistance), plastics, inks, coatings, and in the manufacture of battery electrodes, static dissipative materials, and high-performance reinforced composites.
