Anatase Titanium Dioxide (A-TiO₂) is a white powder at room temperature, offering excellent whiteness and hiding power. However, its crystal structure results in significantly lower lightfastness and weather resistance compared to the rutile type. Chemically, it exhibits very high photocatalytic activity, generating reactive oxygen species under UV irradiation, which can lead to chalking, yellowing, and degradation of the organic resin matrices it is incorporated into (such as in coatings or plastics). Its primary applications include the production of interior paints, inks, plastics, paper, and rubber products where high weather resistance is not critical. Additionally, due to its strong photocatalytic activity, it is specifically employed as a photocatalyst in areas such as wastewater treatment, air purification, and self-cleaning coatings.
