1,6-Hexanediamine is a colorless flaky crystal or powder with a slight ammonia-like odor at room temperature, soluble in water and ethanol. As an aliphatic diamine with two primary amino groups, its chemical properties mainly include basicity, nucleophilicity, and most importantly, polymerization reactivity: the two terminal primary amino groups can undergo polycondensation with dicarboxylic acids (such as adipic acid) to form linear high-molecular-weight polyamides. Its primary application is as a key monomer for producing polyamide 66 (nylon 66). Additionally, it is used as an epoxy resin curing agent, an organic synthesis intermediate, and in the preparation of polyurethanes, as well as textile and paper auxiliaries.
